How to Confirm Your BENOsim Data Plan Is Active
If you're unfamiliar with eSIM technology, it's natural to feel uncertain about whether your BENOsim plan is functioning correctly—and to be concerned that your device might still be using your primary mobile plan for data. To avoid any unexpected charges, it’s important to verify that your device is using the correct data source.
Steps to Ensure Your BENOsim Is Working Properly:
- Review Your Roaming Settings
On devices with an existing primary SIM, ensure that Data Roaming is disabled for that SIM. This prevents your phone from connecting to foreign networks via your home carrier, eliminating the risk of roaming charges. Conversely, Data Roaming must be enabled for your BENOsim, as this allows the device to access the strongest available local network. This setting is essential and does not incur additional costs.
- Confirm BENOsim as Your Active Data Source
Refer to the activation steps provided for your device (Android or iOS), and verify that your BENOsim is selected as the sole data provider in your cellular settings.
- Disable Data Switching
On devices that support automatic switching between data sources, ensure that Cellular Data Switching is turned off. This forces your device to remain connected exclusively through BENOsim.
- Temporarily Disable Wi-Fi
To test your eSIM connection, turn off Wi-Fi (do not use Airplane Mode, as it disables all connectivity). This ensures your device is relying solely on mobile data.
- Test Internet Connectivity
With Wi-Fi turned off, check for signal bars that indicate your eSIM connection is active. Try accessing websites or refreshing apps to confirm that data is working correctly.
- Re-enable Wi-Fi (Optional)
Once you're confident your BENOsim is operating properly, you may turn Wi-Fi back on to conserve data where wireless connections are available.
If you’ve followed all the above steps but still have concerns about potential roaming charges, you can disable your primary SIM entirely. This will prevent calls and texts through your regular number, so it’s advisable to confirm with your carrier regarding any associated fees.
If you don’t require voice or SMS on your primary number during travel, turning off that line is a secure option—similar to removing a physical SIM card, but without needing to physically remove anything.
