How to Activate Your eSIM on an iPhone or iPad
If you have already completed the eSIM installation process on your iPhone or iPad, you are now ready to activate your data plan and begin using your mobile data.
Important: To connect to a network, your device must be located in the country or region associated with your data plan. Attempting to activate a travel data package while outside the designated region (such as from your home country) may result in failure to connect.
If your iPhone or iPad is running iOS 16.4 or later, your device may automatically attempt to activate the eSIM during the installation process—provided it can detect a compatible local network. Therefore, if you are already in the destination country, we recommend installing the eSIM only when you are ready to begin using the data.
Steps to Activate Your BENOsim Data Plan:
- Open the [Settings] app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap [Cellular] (or [Mobile Data], depending on your device language settings).
Under [SIMs], select your BENOsim data plan. If it is not listed, tap [Add eSIM] and follow the prompts.
- Enable the toggle for [Turn On This Line].
- Ensure [Data Roaming] is turned ON for your BENOsim plan to allow connection to the most optimal local network.
Note: On devices running iOS 16.4 or later, it may not be necessary to manually enable Data Roaming for the plan to function properly.
- If you also have a Primary data plan (e.g., from your domestic carrier), go to [Cellular], select your Primary plan, and ensure [Data Roaming] is turned OFF to avoid incurring additional roaming charges.
- Next, designate BENOsim as the sole source of mobile data:
- Tap [Cellular Data]
- Select your BENOsim data plan as the preferred data line.
- If you have a Primary plan active, verify that [Allow Cellular Data Switching] is turned OFF. This setting prevents your device from automatically switching back to your domestic plan, ensuring all data usage is directed through BENOsim.
That’s it — your data plan should now be active and ready for use.
If you ever wish to switch back to your Primary data plan, simply repeat steps 7–9 and select Primary under [Cellular Data].
